There are a huge amount of niche communities and product categories for which this isn't true (and offering a web product or even a web UI run from a local server will place you at an immediate disadvantage). Beyond that, there are a large body of users that associate web UIs with shoddy products.

I love the web and have always shipped web-first products, but the UI and UX experiences still fall far behind what native libraries offer.
