I didn't want to get into an argument about sexism here so I've removed all my comments. My entire point was (and the ONLY thing I commented on) that multiple IRC bots are EXTREMELY ANNOYING and for her co-workers to be annoyed when someone introduced a new automated bot is exactly the experience I had and have, the issue of sexism is completely detached.

The real issue here isn't sexism, the real issue is the complete lack of respect her co-workers showed for a fellow employee. Gender, Race and position at the company aside, if someone raises an issue with something and you can't justify it you damn well go with their request because that's what respect is.
