You ever wonder why the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) gets thicker every time a drug company patents a new drug?

Certain societal groups are particularly receptive to their bullshit (hint; us) and tear you to pieces if you try to tell them their "disease" is made up. It's easier to have a label for your poor psychological habits than to do the work to change yourself.

Maybe they need to classify the need to be classified with a mental disorder as a mental disorder, and then everybody would be happy, and the book would be thinner.

On the other hand, insurance companies are more likely to pay for treatment if the condition has a name, which is why sometimes patients receive "sympathetic diagnoses," where they're diagnosed with a condition that has a close-enough match to their symptoms, simply to get insurance authorization for treatment.
