By "poor", I actually meant "not stupendously wealthy". This includes the merely rich.
A doctor or lawyer or FAANG engineer knows exactly how to translate their time into quality of life. A wealthy person cannot possibly do this. Their quality of life will not change even if they change their net worth by an order of magnitude in either direction. If their time is valuable at all, its value is unknowable.
