No, I'm pretty sure I'm not a slave and that I'm not being held at gunpoint.

If you feel that way, maybe you should talk to the police. Or perhaps a mental health professional.

It’s interesting to refer someone to mental care because you’ve completely missed the metaphor. What was described were totally normal feelings about having a job at all, and you’re gaslighting them into thinking they’re nuts.
