We personally believe that once the last neuron has finished firing... you cease to exist. You never feel or experience another thing again. Your brain becomes physically incapable of processing or retaining information, as the signals that made up consciousness simply no longer exist. The brain becomes completely inert.

But... what happens right before that point—at the "event horizon" before death, when you will never be able to communicate your experience to another living being, but you have not yet finished dying—is, and will forever be, unknown.

Anything can happen. And nobody will ever know. Not even the person having the experience will know... they will see it for an instant, and then cease to "know" whatsoever.
