htmx seems like a very attractive alternative to using a bloated JS SPA framework, especially if you are building an app without very complex state requirements. I actually love Python/Django, Ruby/Rails, and Elixir/Phoenix, and htmx can free devs to use their favorite back-end technology without worrying about duplicating logic.
The only danger I see is devs having more-than-basic interactions and UI updates going off the deep end when trying to integrate htmx with their favorite back-end stack and thereby inventing a new, ad-hoc full-stack framework when Django+Unicorn/Reactor, Rails+Hotwire, Phoenix+Liveview, etc. already provide good, coherent abstractions. If you’re going to be sending HTML over the wire throughout your app, you might be better off using something optimized and battle-tested than trying to roll your own framework.
