Addressing the male population, negotiating conditions with access to fertility consists in the instrumentalizing of one's own body toward some end. When an instrument is used to conform cohorts to your will against theirs, it means that you are conducting warfare. Warfare makes use of more than swords and shields and bombs. It makes use of money and sex and all sorts of inconspicuous things which would make enemies believe they exist in the peace resulting from history's end.
I'm not saying the male population in any country that has been raped by usury and forced industrialization don't do a fair share of evil to their sisters. I'm just saying it's sad that people that get absorbed in these fads think they are really doing what is best for them and for their culture by sex-warring with one another, rather than uniting against the rampant evils of usury and sodomy.
"Choosing" the "life you want" is little more than cute folk psychology, let alone a good basis for a moral philosophy. A large amount of what constitutes "choice" in the world-at-present consists in agreeing to meticulously manufactured inclinations. Enfenced cows can "choose" where they want to stand within the fence and ennoble this "choice" all they want. Heck, the cow can start protesting against the farmer if the farmer doesn't take some of the grain he is feeding his pig and redistribute it to the cow instead. It doesn't change the fact that they are domesticated and both animals are going to be slaughtered.
