275,000 acres is a square of 30 x 30 km (20 x 20 miles). It ain't really that big piece of land

So he has 1 x 1 km (0.6 x 0.6 miles) land in 18 different states. I mean that is nothing. It only sounds big because they are writing it as 242,000 which sounds really huge.

This is pretty close to a non-story in my book
