I have especially noticed this trend of not preaching what we practice with Asians in America. My family is all socially conservative, but almost all have always voted democrat. And it’s not because they don’t think society should impose moral norms on individuals. It’s that they don’t feel any ownership over the dominant culture, and have separate structures for enforcing social and moral norms in their own community. They wouldn’t accept those changes in their own community, they just don’t care how those changes impact white Americans. (There was a bit of a panic when I married a white American. Then my mom pulled her aside and said “you know, we don’t believe in divorce.”)
