I have never been a fan of Musk but what I don't understand is all of the gloom and doom now. Twitter was hemerging money for it's entire existence and now that someone is in charge that actually cares about it's cash flow, it's on it's deathbed?

Whatever value Twitter has to provide to the noble pursuit of science is completely unadulterated. Despite rabid fear mongering, Musk hasn’t made it any harder to share or read tweets and that’s the entire feature set of Twitter.
It’s the ideological hegemony that’s being threatened, and even that’s probably still over dramatic. The political movement of “science” is at an all-time high and I don’t see how any of Twitter’s changes are impacting that. If there’s any good science being done we’d all like to hear it, but it sounds like the scientific establishment is more worried about their ability to continue developing their power unchecked.
The absence of religion has left a spiritual black hole in our society and there are many forces eager to fill it.
