Would you hire under the current circumstances? I wouldn't. How long am I going to have a job? A week? A month? How long am I going to want to have that job?

If you had the need, then hiring now means you have more/better candidates than usual. For job-seekers, now might be a good time to get in and have influence and opportunities for advancement, plus scope to work without excess bureaucracy, for the sort of candidate that would appeal to him?

Ah, sorry, bad wording. Would you hire on under the circumstances? Would you take a job there under the circumstances? I would not.
