They can always move back in with their parents, or worst case get a plot of land and start subsistence farming.

And if they are not, they should have been fired a long time ago.

Then they only have themselves to blame.

So in your world, if someone doesn't have a useful skill, they deserve to be destitute?

Not making 500k in a job you're incompetent at != being destitute.
