I have been using a gtx 980 for a long time now and have wanted to upgrade but everything still seems so expensive. Right now on newegg Canada a ASUS ROG Strix NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 OC is $1039.99. Seems like a lot. Will that price go down? Or should I be looking deals with used cards?

My speculative call is that it will go down, haven't hit bottom yet.
Nvidia is sitting on a bunch of ampere stock, the miner liquidation, and new gen cards coming out.
My guess is January-February when the Christmas buying season is past and all these are in full swing.
Flash memory is also experiencing a price crash.
