It’s a purely open-source project now with not a lot of contributors and no company backing.

Again: it works perfectly with current Java (the ones everyone has by now), it is documented, they just chose a wrong default.

Don't tell me the sob story about the poor open source project. At some point the users' experience has to count, as well.
