I would be surprised if it’s fixed - gyro based head tracking is very well established tech now. It’s probably 3dof tracking. (So no translation, just rotation.) the Oculus GearVR and Oculus Go took this approach which works fine for most people for sit and watch theater use cases.

Edit: oh, yeah so I think you’re referring to 3dof. I could imagine these being fully tracked but thought you were suggesting entirely untracked.

These do suggest being entirely untracked from the specs.

Otherwise the 1080p internal OLED, if tracked, would result in a usable effective virtual screen resolution of more like 320x240, unusable for much of anything. Since the field of view would need to be significantly wider than the virtual screen to avoid clipping, and then there's effective resolution loss from resampling during virtual screen placement on top of that.

If the tech allows making the display see-through on a per pixel basis, they could simulate seeing the full display as a monitor hanging a meter before your eyes. Turn your head, and the virtual monitor would move out of view, with the outside world showing up.

If it’s untracked entirely it’s garbage and rather shocking a company would release it.
