Kinda think that you celebrating being wasteful is proving his point.
In my mind writing performant, somewhat efficient code does nothing but improve the UX, and if you actually care about your users having a good experience using your software then you shouldn't be celebrating wastefulness.

Better for who?
What you consider good and I consider good for a product can, but doesn't have to be the same. And there is an opportunity cost in doing one or the other.
In my mind writing performant, somewhat efficient code does nothing but improve the UX, and if you actually care about your users having a good experience using your software then you shouldn't be celebrating wastefulness.
