Formula E is a thing, but so far it's been much less fun to watch than Formula 1 (see [1]). They tried introducing "exciting" features like fanboost and attack mode, but IMO it hasn't helped.

Formula 1 is slowly and carefully transitioning their power plants to more and more electric while still retaining the excitement. The 2026 rules just came out, and they're switching to sustainable fuels among other changes [2].
