He's saying Apple killed flash support because they wanted the app store gross 30% rent-seeking.

They are doing the same for gaming on Mac's. Apple wants the 30% free rent-seeking money.

Macromedia/adobe went from an in house basic simple scripting engine to full javascript bs which killed performance and bloated the entire plugin. Full jvm is more flexible to code but terrible for usabilty and eficiency. This was pre v8. V8 basically saved js but it was too late to save flash.
