I also prefer the browser on a separate workspace with nothing but the browser. However, in rare cases where copy-paste from the browser is not possible/good I just move the editor temporarily next to the browser: Win-Shift-2 Win-2 in i3, it's quick. Would there even be a shortcut for "move to workspace and display"? If so I have never learned it.
