Pengaru mentioned MRU in the replies and that's largely how I find the relevant window, but instinctively knowing where the relevant app will find itself in the MRU using alt-tab. Either that or I just click on it in the taskbar, I never have more than 5-6 windows open. If I really need to be productive, I'll tile them up.
