> For over 1000 years black text on white paper has been the best practice for printed texts worldwide
No it hasn't.. It's gray on yellow
Later the article reads: > Join the Readability Revolution. Ideally make your text no less than 16 px, and 18 px or larger is preferred
No thank you. I'm on a hidpi/retina screen.
The article also tells us that body text should be black black. If he knew aboutvanta black, it'd probably be vantablack.
It's wrong. I'd advise the writer to do some DTP/Print/Prepress work.
But of course, all "black", "white", "gray", "yellow" etc are fuzzy concepts in nature. And in nature, the quality of the medium and of the environment dominate in the visual effect.
On a display, "black" and "white" are abstract - maximum and minimum. They are a shard of the final effect, that passes through other parameters of the medium and of the environment (especially, "how much light here and there and directed where").
Insisting on comparing "colour on display" vs "colour on book" is strongly misleading in this context.
But that is an implicit requirement, part of the setup...
