The fact that various test scores are correlated to each other only means, could mean that the tests themselves are correlated or that test-taking abilities are correlated. The resulting normal distribution also suggest tests are indicative of test-taking abilities. But... how do you show that test-taking ability correlates to intelligence?

The test taking ability is highly correlated to real world ability on practical tasks. See, for example, Hunter and Schmidt, βThe validity and utility of selection methods in personnel psychology: Practical and theoretical implications of 85 years of research findings.β (1998), which summarizes a mountain of research over almost a century, and in fact finds that test taking ability is strongly predictive of real world performance.
