Ask HN: What are you looking for in a new job?

When I was still looking, I was always looking for cold hard cash. I had the dream of retiring as quickly as possible and so nothing mattered to me more than money back then.

Now, if I were to still work, I'd look for purpose, a reason for the company to exist beyond money.

Do you feel like this is because you have more than enough money now? Or is it because you now place greater emphasis on growth and a sense of fulfillment?

It's the same as Maslow's hierarchy of needs; once we are content with material conditions, we seek self-actualization, both in our personal lives and our professional lives.
