OTOH, QUICK will mean UDP with per-stream flow control gets through every corporate firewall on the planet in 5 or so years. Hurray!

Given that connecting to technical docs or ssh is considered an "attack" by half the people hiring consultants, that will be a very good thing indeed.

Why would they do that when HTTP1.1 is perfectly fine and available?

That will be the explanation, I’m not too optimistic.
