The emperor and Irulan only make a personal appearance at the end of the book, don't they? During events the movie presumably doesn't cover at all?

They only make an appearance then, but throughout the book Irulan's commentary is interweaved between chapters. It feels like that could have been a useful path for a bit of exposition on the things that aren't explicitly covered in the plot.

I just thought exposition wise it might have been good. They talk about this Emperor a lot and he just never appears on screen.
