Um, you might want to erase the “affordable” in your last sentence. South Korea also has a pretty serious housing bubble issue right now, it is really hard for a newly married couple to get a Jeonse [1] on an apartment in Seoul (unless your parents are rich).

And you really need to be careful when comparing South Korea’s housing market with other countries. It has its own unique properties that would probably make no sense at all to outsiders at first glance.
