How can you put a number on an ephemeral emotion like confidence but not something more tangible like intelligence? Are anecdotal surveys really an accepted form of research in this kind of field? Iām genuinely curious as it seems that a lot of studies of this nature are generalizing quackery to confirm inherit biases and provide un-individualized cheap solutions.

You can, and people did, there are published studies on this and its not well marketed because it is something that some people would really rather not read. The illusion of a world where everyone is equal is very conforting and some people have fought very hard to keep it that way.
