My attention span is alright, thank you.

I think I read about 40-60% of the articles relative to HN comments, usually because I (think I) get the gist of the article from the discussion.

Good point! And I think that's true ... often the top comment is enough to get the gist (or a completely anecdotal aside :-) ).
