Does it literally have no presence outside of Tor? Most people really don't want to download an extra browser just to see a random software project.

Yes, it has no presence outside of Tor. More people should know about Tor and use it.

(There are clearnet->tor gates, but you should not use them.)

No. Install Tor. That's the only way. The name of the project is pfpmd.
