No. Opiates make a person feel really good, fossil fuels enable modern society. I assume you see the difference now.

The difference is people are complaining about fossil fuels as they use them.

Be the first, and give up all modern medicine, modern technology, plastics, etc. Nothing wrong with innovating out of fossil fuels, but you just seem to be pointing blame.

What choice do we have, realistically? How would you even opt out?

Everything carries a fossil fuel burden with it, the change cannot come from individuals.
