Actually, the French mostly stay at home: the last gubernatorial elections had like 34% participation.

The primary tool we use to exerce Democracy is not so much the vote anymore, it is protests on specific issues.

Votes are too diluted, and there is no accountability for campaign promises.

In the second round of the 2017 presidential election there was 65.3% turnout. In the 2020 US presidential election there was 66.8% turnout.
