Incorporating more variables into the model wouldn't be sufficient. You would also need to get the input data for those variables into a form that algorithm could consume. Often the raw data simply isn't recorded in the patient's chart, or if it is recorded it's in unstructured text where even sophisticated NLP struggles to extract accurate discrete clinical concept codes.
