My dad went to take a shoulder x-ray in preparation for a small bit of surgery. In the corner of the image the radiologist noticed something that didn't look right. He took more pictures, this time of the lungs, and quickly escalated the case.

My dad had fought cancer, and it turned out the cancer had spread to his lungs. He had gone to regular checks every six months for several years at that point, but the original cancer was in a different part of his body.

For a year prior he'd been short of breath, and they'd given him asthma medication... until he went to get that shoulder x-ray.
