I thought something like this had happened to me, but it turned out that they had just deleted their previous account and created a new one with the same name and profile photo. I suspect something similar happened here.

I wish the author gave more details. It seems more likely that they accidentally unblocked rather than Facebook doing it silently. There’s a lot of missing info.

No evidence at all that Facebook did anything. I hate Facebook as much as the next person, but this is just as likely a fat fingered unblocking as it is some nefarious Facebook scheme.

As someone that is currently estranged from a parent, trust me no. That is not the case.
