I can't speak to your specific case, but in general that's not true.
Even if you have no conscious memory of trauma, it can manifest itself in ongoing stress, fear, and general PTSD-like symptoms.
You may have been lucky in waking up but perhaps without pain, but that's not the case with everyone.
