You're pointing to the "Infection Fatality Ratio" for the "Current Best Estimate," right?

    0-19 years: 0.00003
    20-49 years: 0.0002
    50-69 years: 0.005
    70+  years: 0.054

So to grandparent's claim that "it kills 1% to 3%" is only true for people ~65 and older.
