I was sure that things like 'let' in ML are not assignments - but I looked it up in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assignment_(computer_science)#S... Apparently it is assignment - but a special case of it.

Usually that is considered a let-binding and not assignment. But I guess either is ok
