But why do you turn the computer off? Thirty years ago the computer didn't have sleep. So it took a ton of power to have it sit on for no reason.

I only reboot my machine for security updates now.

Now I find that I often come to my computer and it has been turned off for me, due to frequent updates.

20 years ago, I would turn off the monitor to avoid burn-in, but typically just kept the computer on.
