This is the sort of thing that gets me ranting about how 10x programmers are actually vampires, sucking their life out of the rest of the team with their loose-cannon behavior.

Would love to hear some examples/experiences especially since 10x programmers are so deified

It's like classic school. My kids complain that they are forced to slow down to keep pace with the rest of the class. Same idea here.

I've worked with a lot of them over the years. Big/breaking codebase changes without consulting anyone, not waiting for requirements to work out, not playing well with others, not being willing to mentor less experienced team members... the list goes on and on and on and on. I do not like working with 10x programmers. They're the engineering equivalent of putting your bills on a credit card. You have to pay it eventually, with interest.
