Ask HN: Why people are so aggressively down-voting recently?

I am all for people being able to down-vote. But don't you think recently it has been a bit two aggressive? or maybe the balance of people who can down-vote and those who can't is gone over the threshold?!

I'm pretty sure there are some people on HN who downvote just for the heck of it. Call them downvote-trolls.

As long as the conversation is interesting, just ignore the votes.

Yeah, but time and resources for keeping this place good are finite. The big negatives are being watched by pg and others. I think the rest of us can help more by contributing more positive stuff.
