As an entrepreneur I realized most of my choices are wrong. There are just too many I am forced to make every day and there is no time to analyze the relevant data.
What keeps the business alive is that one great choice I make once in a while which pays for all the mistakes.
It's probably the same for big corporations: they can afford stupid mistakes.
It's like a balance sheet with mistakes and good choices.
Dilbert only sees the mistakes, the pointy haired boss is clueless but the company lives on.
