Unfortunately, it's hard to vet for this when you are not a medical professional, but read reputable materials about pregnancy and early childhood (research the authors) and try your best to learn as much as you can, while also searching carefully for a public track record, awards, etc. each candidate pediatrician might have.

When you have one you are happy with, discuss this topic and anything else you are curious about with him/her and the nurses. Don't be shy and ask as many questions as you can, they are there to help you. Please beware of anecdotes and forums. Best of luck!
