RealMyst Masterpiece Edition is a surprisingly good modern-tech recreation. I played through it again recently.

I just wish they'd do riven next.

The main difference is that you can actually walk around, as opposed to point and click with animated pictures.

If I remember correctly, the original game was still images with quicktime movies overlaid over them.
