I work on a project that suffers from NIH and the lava flow antipattern. We have three implementations of merge() and all have different semantics.

I don’t even try to memorize the APIs any more. I kind of keep an inventory of what’s available and just google or read the source to figure out what it’s called this week and what it does with undefined or optional arguments.

We all know I’ll be using a new API in a year or two anyway...
