So if a board position opens up and a male is denied an opportunity solely on hos sex, how will CA reconcile the lawsuit?

Because he can't being denied a position which wasn't legally available for him to have in the first place.

That's exactly the problem- you can't create a state law that trumps federal law. The law itself is illegal, it's existence violates gender discrimination laws already.
