Re:Trustworthy Chrome Extensions, by default by jchw on Monday October 01, 2018 @09:52PM (#18118232)
This seems like a great effort. However, I worry what this means for the future of WebAssembly inside of extensions. There's an undeniable advantage to being able to write extensions in languages other than JavaScript. AgileBits has been writing the 1Password X extension, in Go, compiled to JS. While the JS isn't obfuscated per-se, it's also not very readable.

I hope they can find a path forward that doesn't kill off extensions like 1Password X.
