I totally agree in principle but social media is a bubble, people don't befriend people with opposing views on Facebook, if someone posts something they disagree with they'll make a passive aggressive post and unfriend the person, further insulating them from ideas they don't like.

This is one reason every issue has become so polarized these days, people don't hear the detractors they just get their own views amplified back to them.
