Well, he lost control of VK years ago and seems to be working hard to prevent that from happening again.

That's part of why I trust it enough to use it (at least for some of my communication. )

Either lost control or donated it to FSB in secret. He's not exactly a knight in shining armor, judging from all that 'Facebook cloning' affair.
