The notion of “flyover states” as an intrinsically pejorative term is a desperate attempt by those, who have already given up their natural lives for the collective allure of cities, to drag those with more (land, peace, free time, wisdom, etc.) along with them, to satisfy the appetite of their ever-growing shadows.
